Phishing emails are a headache for everyone. This article will discuss ManagedMethods phishing detection methods, and how they can help mitigate phishing risks in your environment. Currently ManagedMethods uses three methods to find potential phishing risks.
β
GOOGLE WEBRISK: Utilizing googles technology we are able to scan every link for known phishing threats. Links are scanned in emails, documents, and attachments. Any time a link is found to contain phishing content it will be flagged in the console in the Email Tab with the phishing link icon.
Selecting the Icon will display the risk. The Url, Scanning Method, and Threat Type will be displayed. See our article on Removing Phishing Emails.
PHISHTANK: On top of google safe browsing ManagedMethods also utilizes Phishtank. Each link found in an email, document, or attachment is scanned for known phishing links. Phishtank is a collaborative site for reporting phishing links. Phishtank has over 2.4 million known phishing links identified. Any time a link is found to contain phishing content it will be flagged in the console in the Email Tab with the phishing link icon.
Selecting the Icon will display the risk. The Url, Scanning Method, and Threat Type will be displayed.
PHISHING CONTENT SCANNING: On top of Searching for links ManagedMethods also scans content for phishing behavior. Emails containing phishing content will be marked with the phishing content icon.
