A Scene is a reusable set of browsing rules you apply to a class during an active classroom-management session. Each scene defines which sites are allowed or blocked, an optional Focus Mode policy, and who is allowed to use it. The Scenes page lists every scene in your domain and lets you create, edit, and share them so they can be selected as default scenes for a class or launched on demand.
What this guide covers
Before you begin: Open Scenes from the top navigation bar. The page opens to All Scenes, with a filter panel near the top, the + Add button at the top right, and the full list of scenes below.

The All Scenes List
The table lists every scene available in the domain:
The scene list, with owner emails shown here as masked examples.
Column | Description |
Name | The scene name. Sortable. |
Owned By | The console user who owns the scene. |
Actions | An Edit (pencil) control to open the scene’s configuration, and a Delete (red trash) control to permanently remove it. |
The Filter panel near the top lets you narrow the list by Name or Owned By. Enter your criteria and choose Search; choose Reset to clear them.

Note: Deleting a scene is permanent.
Creating a Scene
Select + Add at the top right to open the Configure Scene window. Give the scene a Name at the top, then use the three tabs — Allow & Block, Policies, and Access — to define its behavior. Select Save to store the scene. Editing an existing scene opens the same window with its current settings.
The sections below describe each tab in turn.
Allow & Block Sites
The Allow & Block tab controls which sites students can reach while the scene is active. In the Add Site area, enter a site in the Site field (the tooltip suggests the format “e.g. facebook.com”), then choose how to apply it:
The Allow & Block tab, where sites are added to the scene.
Control | Description |
Allow | Adds the site to the allow list for this scene. |
Block | Adds the site to the block list for this scene. |
Block All Sites | Blocks all sites except those explicitly allowed. Use with care, as it restricts browsing broadly. |
Sites added to the scene appear in the table below with their Site, Path Wildcards, Status, and per-row Actions.
Policies and Focus Mode
The Policies tab contains the Focus Mode setting, which is toggled off by default. Its tooltip explains the behavior:

“If enabled, all explicitly allowed sites will automatically open on student’s machine and they will not be allowed to create new tabs or visit other sites.”
Use the Reset and Save controls on this tab to discard or keep changes to the policy settings.
Access and Sharing
The Access tab controls who can use the scene. In the Add User area, enter a console user in the User field, choose a Role, and select + Add.
The Access tab, where the scene is shared with console users.
The available roles are:
The Role options available when granting access.
Role | Description |
CM_SCENE_VIEWER | Can view the scene. |
CM_SCENE_EDITOR | Can view and edit the scene. |
CM_SCENE_OWNER | Full control of the scene, including managing access. |
Existing access appears in the table below, listing each Console User, their Role, and an action to remove them. The scene’s creator is listed as the owner.
