Monitored IP Ranges lets you control which users content filtering applies to, based on the network they are connecting from. You define one or more network ranges in CIDR notation, and filtering is then limited to users whose IP address falls within them.
What this guide covers
Before you begin: Open the console and go to Admin › Monitored IP Ranges. You need administrator access to view and manage IP ranges.
The Monitored IP Ranges page, reached from the Admin menu in the top navigation.
What monitored IP ranges do
Hover the help icon next to the page title for a reminder of how ranges affect filtering. In short, IP ranges define which users filtering applies to: if no ranges are set, filtering applies to everyone; if one or more ranges are set, filtering applies only to users within those ranges.
The help icon explains how setting ranges narrows who filtering applies to.
Adding an IP range
Select Add IP Range to open the entry form. Provide a Name to identify the range and the Network (CIDR) it covers, then select Save. Select Cancel to discard the entry. Both fields are required.
The Add IP Range form: a name and a network in CIDR notation. The hint shows accepted formats.
Field | Description |
Name | A label to identify the range (for example, a building or campus name). |
Network (CIDR) | The network range in CIDR notation. Both IPv4 and IPv6 are accepted — for example 192.0.2.0/24 or 2001:db8::/48. |
Managing your IP ranges
Saved ranges appear in the list below the form. When no ranges have been added, the list shows No data — and, as noted above, filtering then applies to all users. Add ranges here whenever you want to limit filtering to specific networks.
The list shows your saved ranges, or No data when none have been added yet.
