How to Block a Website

This guide will show you how to block a website in Content Filter so it is blocked for all users on your domain.

Note: Sites added to the Content Filter Block List are blocked domain-wide and persistently — they stay blocked for every user going forward until removed. This is different from blocking a site during a Classroom Manager Class Session, which only lasts for the duration of that session.

STEP ONE

Click Policy in the top navigation, then select Block List.

Open the Policy menu and select Block List.

STEP TWO

Click Add Site.

Click Add Site on the Block List page.

STEP THREE

Click in the Site field and enter the domain you want to block (e.g. example.com).

Note: Do not include https:// in the Site field — this will prevent the site from saving. See View supported formats in the Add Site window for advanced formats like path wildcards and TLD matching.

Add Site window with a website entered in the Site field

Enter the website you want to block in the Site field.

STEP FOUR

Optionally choose a Category or turn on Mute Violation, then click Add Site to save.

Note: Mute Violation — when this is turned on, the site will be blocked but a violation will not be generated.

Add Site window with the Add Site save button highlighted

Click Add Site to save the blocked website.

STEP FIVE

The website now appears in the Block List and will be blocked for all users on your domain going forward. You have now successfully blocked a website.
